Latest Updates from Our Project:

Closing in on Final - New Project
about 5 years ago – Wed, Mar 20, 2019 at 10:43:55 PM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers!

This past month has been one where a good chunk of our focus has been on finalizing everything needed to send the game to the printer.

Closing In...

We're getting to a very nice point on this project... A point where the final balance of actions is 99.9% complete and the only remaining work left to do is dealing with incorporating the final art and making the final tweaks to graphics. Much of the past few weeks has been geared towards rounds of revisions with Christian Strain, ensuring the iconography and look of the game is supporting things, not detracting from the experience. The rulebook is also laid out but will undergo a few more rounds of edits to make sure everything is clear. Once that's complete we'll be able to send all of the files to our publishing partners to get the game translated into different languages. When those files, of all languages, hit the printer we will give you an update on the exact production timeline.

On comments on our last update, we certainly noticed the folks encouraging us to take our time and focus on quality rather than speed. Have no fear, we're definitely doing just that. We're not going to send this to the printer until we're satisfied the game is exactly where you expect it to be.

Tsukuyumi: Full Moon Down

In the meantime, we've just launched another project on Kickstarter that you might be excited about.

It's a game called Tsukuyumi: Full Moon Down, an asymmetric area control game set in a world where the moon has come crashing down into the Earth. You can take command of a swarm of mutated insects, cybersamurai and even lion-riding pandas.

Come check it out here.

That's all for now! We'll check in again when we have more.

Pledge Manager Now Closed - Gameplay Update
about 5 years ago – Fri, Feb 22, 2019 at 12:37:52 AM

Hey Reavers of Midgard backers,

As promised, another update today following the closing of the pledge manager.

Pledge Manager Closed

This morning we closed down the pledge manager and charged cards for add-ons.... a key part of finalizing print run numbers for the game.

You should have received an email notification to that effect. If there was an issue with your method of payment, BackerKit will let you know.

While the pledge manager is closed for modifying games, you're still able to update your address if it's changed all the way up until we're closer to shipping.

Gameplay Update

As promised yesterday, here's an update on the project's status with a focus on gameplay.

Right now the big focus is on balancing, making sure there are multiple viable paths to victory and that going out to sea to battle an epic monster is a space that gets selected as often as going to raid villages for their loot.

That's included testing a couple of ideas to tweak the gameplay before we send the project off to print, with the biggest one being a possible return of a signature of Champions of Midgard.... blame. The goal remains to have everything ironed out for print within the next week and a half.

In a typical project, we'd be able to immediately hit the print button while making final rulebook edits, however because the game is simultaneously being translated into a number of other languages, we have to give our partners some time to prep files for their own editions of the game.

Once we've taken the first step of finalizing gameplay, we'll let you know what the anticipated timeline is from there.

Last Call for the Pledge Manager
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 21, 2019 at 01:23:00 AM

Hey Reavers backers,

Tomorrow we'll have a more substantive update on game development progress (spoiler alert: a couple of really interesting changes in the works), but today is more about a friendly reminder that doesn't apply to 90% of backers who have already filled out their BackerKit survey.

The deadline for filling out the pledge manager is tomorrow morning, Feb. 21st at 11 AM EST.  After that point, backers will no longer be able to upgrade their pledge to get a full copy of the game nor add additional items to their pledge. This is also the time we will be charging cards for any funds added in BackerKit.

Any backers who do not complete their surveys before this time run the risk of seeing their shipping or customs costs increase or the possibility of not receiving their game at all. Remember, without these surveys, we have no idea where to send your pledge.

If you are having any issues getting access to your pledge manager, please send us an email at [email protected] and we'll help sort things out.

Thanks for your help in getting this all sorted out!

Pledge Manager Closing Date - Project Update
about 5 years ago – Tue, Feb 05, 2019 at 11:04:36 PM

Hey Reavers of Midgard backers,

A couple of important updates for you on the game.

Pledge Manager Closing Date

There have been a number of questions in regards to the pledge manager for this campaign.

In order to give everyone who backed the game and wanted to upgrade their pledge enough time to do so, we have aimed to leave the pledge manager open as late as possible. We had promised when the campaign wrapped up to leave it open until at least February and give you a heads up when the pledge manager was set to close.

To that end, we are setting an official date and time of February 21st at 10 AM CST to close the pledge manager.

Project Update

No pretty pictures or fancy behind-the-scenes peeks to show you on this one.

Final tweaks are currently being made on balancing gameplay and ensuring card graphics and iconography are as accessible as is necessary to have this game be a success. We have a copy permanently set up on our largest table here at GFG Headquarters.

We've set an internal deadline of the end of this month to have the project wrapped up and sent to the printer to start production. When that's actually occurred, we'll have a better sense of when we're looking at having copies in backer's hands.

Behind the Scenes Progress - Pledge Manager - Reavers of Marsgard
over 5 years ago – Tue, Jan 22, 2019 at 09:05:53 PM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers,

It's been a couple of weeks since we last shared an update with you and we've got some excellent things to share from behind the scenes!

Behind the Scenes

Jaroslav Radeckyi and Christian Strain have been working together on both the additional art needed and the graphic design of the game. Here are some newer pieces of art or newer layouts.

Playing for "Keeps"

These were initially crests in the prototype version. We have now changed these to tapestries that players can collect a full set of for a big time bonus.

Should've been more careful....

... because Draugr are always lurking

This is a Sea Battle and Sea Journey card for the game. One thing still being worked on is iconography to represent a die face being spent to handle these conflicts. This was one of the more complained about elements during playtests at BGG.con and it's an important part of play that we're looking to get ironed out.

You'll never go hungry with this Reaver

This is a look at a Reaver card. These are all capable warriors and we're sure you'll want to recruit folks like this Seasoned Hunter to make sure you're properly prepared for a productive raid.

Pledge Manager

It looks like we'll be able to keep the pledge manager open at least through the end of the month. It's likely going to be closed sometime in February when we're closer to sending print files in to the manufacturer. We'll obviously keep you notified with a deadline when we have one.

A reminder for all backers.... if you do not have your survey completed by this date, there is a chance that fulfillment of your pledge will be delayed and, if you're international, a chance your costs to receive the game will increase or your order will be cancelled.

We recently had this come into a play with a City of Gears backer in France who filled out their survey 6 weeks after the deadline date. As a result, they weren't on the fulfillment list and when they contacted us to figure out what had occurred, the fulfillment center no longer had copies to send out.

Don't be that person wondering where your copy is... fill out your pledge manager if you haven't already.

Reavers of Marsgard

Although vikings are plenty capable against draugr, other humans and mythical monsters, they might struggle a bit with an alien invasion.

If you're looking for a fun two-player asymmetric game and love the H.G. Wells' classic, give War of the Worlds: The New Wave a look. The campaign is live for a little more than a week and we're closing in on a pretty major stretch goal.
