Factory Completion Date - Watch it Played!

Hey Reavers of Midgard backers,
A couple of pieces of news to share with you on this Tuesday.
Factory Completion Date
As per our last update, we wanted to keep you posted on the game's progress at the factory. The new estimated completion date we've been given is September 9th. During this time, we're ensuring all of the shipping arrangements are made so that the moment these games are done, they can be headed to a boat to be shipped out. We'll have better estimates for a shipping/fulfillment date once the games are officially on the water.
Watch it Played!
We've been working on this behind the scenes for a bit, but are pleased to share with you a Watch it Played video for Reavers of Midgard! It's our first time collaborating with Rodney and we can't tell you how excited we are. His videos are always top notch and this one is no exception. This should make everyone's first game of Reavers of Midgard a lot easier. This video will also be the one that's linked to the QR code on the game's rulebook.

Manufacturing Update - First Review/Playthroughs
over 5 years ago
– Wed, Aug 14, 2019 at 12:51:04 AM
Hey Reavers of Midgard backers,
A few updates on a few fronts as it pertains to production.
Manufacturing Update
Per our last update, we were awaiting an estimated completion date from the manufacturer on the print run, but we ran into a small snag with the Game Trayz insert that required a small re-work in order to get a proper fit. As of yesterday, that has now been officially rectified and we are awaiting a final completion date from the manufacturer. We expect to know that date within 24 hours, but imagine that it will be shipping out of China within the next 3 weeks. If the date we get falls outside of that window, we will be letting you know.
First off, an apology. This has delayed the project a bit more than we anticipated. It's in the name of getting things right for you, but that likely doesn't make the wait any less difficult or annoying.
Second off, an assurance. Retail editions of the game will not be shipping to us until the Kickstarter editions are ready, so this also delays their release as we won't make those games available to retailers until backers have them in their hands.
First Review/Playthroughs
In the meantime, a select group of reviewers has received copies and is starting to give their thoughts on the game. The first review we've seen is from The Game Boy Geek.
"Finally a game that both Amerithrash & Euro style gamers can play together without compromising the way they strive to play!" - Dan King
The crew at The Dice Tower also had a full playthrough this week.
Backers at Gen Con
Thanks to all of the backers who came out to the event at Gen Con. We had a lot of fun showing those who found us in the J.W. Marriott Ballroom the game! We even had a late night two player full playthrough for the very last group. It was a ton of fun meeting everyone both there and at the booth!

Thank you again for your patience. We know the anticipation is high for this game and we're looking forward to getting it to you as soon as we can.

Production Update - GameTrayz/KS Goodies
– Fri, Jul 26, 2019 at 01:57:41 AM
Hey Reavers of Midgard backers,Here's an update on a couple of fronts for you as we approach closer to Gen Con.
Production Update
Our word from the manufacturer is that the games are close to done, but not 100% of all of the games are done (remember, we have several different language editions that are part of this print run). We don't have an updated ETA for full manufacturing completion, but we will let folks know here when we know.
GameTrayz Insert/KS Goodies
While we're awaiting word from the factory, we did receive one of the exclusive GameTrayz inserts. Here's a quick look at how it unpacks/all fits together.
As you might see from this picture, there are additional spaces for cards so that folks who choose to sleeve will have spots for those cards to go, both large and small.
Inside of the two removable trays is storage for the dice and additional components.
We also got our first look at some of the additional exclusive Reaver, Sea Battle and Sea Journey cards.

That's all for now! Thanks very much for your patience and your help in bringing this amazing game to life.

Dice Tower Con - Beauty Shots - Gen Con
– Thu, Jul 11, 2019 at 02:35:22 AM
Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers,
Alex here. Welcome to July! I hope folks here in the US had a good Independence Day... and everyone else is enjoying their summer (or winter for our friends south of the equator). We have a big update to share with you fine folks - one that covers past, present and future.
Dice Tower Con
On the Sunday ahead of Dice Tower Con, we received something just in the nick of time.... a pre-production copy of Reavers of Midgard! It's the practically identical to the final edition version of the game with some minor differences.
The timing was good because it meant we were able to show off the game at our booth from Wednesday thru Saturday.
We also showed off the game to the Twist Gaming and I Heart Board Games crews. I finished third out of three much to my eternal embarrassment in a full playthrough on I Heart Board Games.
The game got a fantastic reception from those that played it and it was our first time seeing the final look of the game all laid out and ready to go.
Thanks to all of the backers who came and saw the game and those who tried it out. It was a pleasure showing you something we've been incredibly excited to share with the hobby.
Beauty Shots
Now that we've brought the copy back to our offices, we were able to give this game a little photoshoot.
All of these shots are of the retail components of the game, so the multi-layered player boards and custom bits aren't shown.
Here's a shot of the custom wooden bits all lined up as well as the first player marker. The purple "terror" token seemed to be a favorite. For the one commenter who mentioned not being a big fan of the custom "artillery" score tokens on the right, these are not artillery but an axe stuck in the ground.
We have yet to see the custom GameTrayz insert that all backers are getting in the flesh, but will be sending along photos once we have them.
Gen Con
For those tracking the updates closely, you might remember we mentioned the possibility of selling limited copies of RETAIL editions of the game at Gen Con and asking folks to weigh in.
A vast majority of backers who responded positively to the potential that we could sell limited copies at the show. We read each and every one of the comments for those who took time to write them, with a special focus on the concerns from those who noted hesitation with our proposal. We always want to do right by our backers while also focusing on making sure we give every game we put out the best possible chance at success.
With all of that being said, we want to let you know here first that we intend on air shipping in 200 Retail (NOT KS) copies of Reavers of Midgard to sell at our booth at Gen Con in order to help generate buzz for the game.
We are thankful that so many of you expressed your support for us to do this and for those of you who preferred that we did not sell any copies at Gen Con, please let us take a minute to explain our reasoning and reassure you in some of your concerns.
Because Gen Con is arguably the world’s most premiere board game convention and all eyes of the gaming world watch it intently, selling just a few copies there is the best decision for the long-term future of the game. Our number one goal with this effort is to generate excitement for a game that we are super excited about at the biggest convention of the year. Though we hate to do anything that will leave any backer less than completely satisfied with our campaign, we believe that missing the opportunity to use Gen Con to help promote our most anticipated title would be a huge mistake for the longevity of this game and our company.
We will absolutely not be selling Kickstarter editions nor will ANY copies of Reavers be available on store shelves before backers receive their games.
The copies available at Gen Con will be the only copies to have arrived and they will only be available from our booth and for the full MSRP of the game.
For Backers at Gen Con
We’d love to take the opportunity to spend some time showing off the game at Gen Con to just you, our backers. We intend to have at least 1 night where we demo the game outside of the regular vendor space exclusively for backers of the game. This is an opportunity for those of you who want to see it and learn it from us to come and do just that! (And of course you are welcome to come by during regular vendor hall hours and play with us then too!) We will update you here when we have locked down the day, time and location of this event.

We know that not 100% of our backers will be happy with this news but we hope the transparency in planning and reasoning does something to help. Regardless we are sorry to anyone who feels upset at our decision.
To those who have been supportive of this, we thank you for that.
And to all of our backers, thank you very much for your support in helping to make this project a reality.
