Anticipated Game - Pledge Manager Update
over 5 years ago – Thu, Jan 03, 2019 at 09:25:03 PM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers,

We hope you enjoyed the holiday season with family, friends or whoever you wanted to spend time with!

Development is ongoing behind-the-scenes and art is being finished up by Yaroslav Radeckyi. No significant update for you on that front. We do have a couple of other things to give folks a heads up on.

Anticipated Game

For the second year in a row, this game ended up on Sam Healey's anticipated games of the year list.

Barring an insane calamity, it won't be three in a row, but we're happy he's still that excited about it after giving it a try back at PAX Unplugged.

Microbadge for Reavers

If you're a BGG user, a wonderful gentleman named James posted a microbadge up on the site. It's available here if you want to show off your enthusiasm for the game. If you'd like geek gold for it, send me a message on BGG (username: alpec73)

Pledge Manager Update

As of right now, close to 83% of you have completed your pledge manager successfully. Thanks to everyone who's done that so far!

As mentioned previously, this is important to have completed as quickly as possible for several reasons. A couple of the most important ones:

1) It ensures we have correct address information for when the game fulfills

2) It lets us know how many games we have to print

We are currently getting manufacturing quotes and estimated timelines and as part of that, having a better sense of just how many copies we need to make is key. There are still nearly 1,000 backers who haven't responded to the pledge manager, which is potentially a nearly 1,000 copy difference on the print run size.

At some point later this month, likely within the next three weeks, we will need to close down the ability of backers to switch pledge levels to get a more concrete sense of that print run number.

The pledge manager itself will remain open for add-ons and BackerKit funds will not be charged until February at the earliest.

If you need help switching pledge levels, a guide was posted in this update. If you still need help, please send us a message to [email protected] .

Pledge Manager Progress/Additional FAQ - Bonus Promo
over 5 years ago – Sat, Dec 08, 2018 at 01:46:22 AM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers,

Things have been hopping over in the pledge manager! We've gotten a flood of questions and other activity on the page. Let's sort through things a bit.

Pledge Manager Progress

Ohhhhhhhh, we're halfway there....
Ohhhhhhhh, we're halfway there....

As of this update, 52% of you have filled out your pledge manager survey! Thank you so much to everyone who's jumped in and gotten this done so quickly.

A quick reminder on a couple of points:

- Go to this update if you'd like to know how to change your pledge as a $1 backer

- You'll be able to change your address all the way up until we lock down the orders shortly before shipping.

- Orders themselves won't be locked down and cards charged until February at the very earliest, likely March.

If you haven't received your BackerKit link, please send us a message and we'll get it to you.

Pledge Manager Additional FAQ

There have been a few additional common questions we've received since launching the pledge manager.

I backed my copy of the game at the Spanish, French or Portuguese level. Why am I only seeing the Reavers playmat as an add-on?

This was addressed during the campaign and in the add-ons section currently, but due to fulfillment issues and our agreements with our publishing partners, this is the only add-on that is allowed for with these editions. If you overpledged with the anticipation of adding something else in the PM, contact us for a refund.

I'd like to upgrade my pledge from $1 but get the Spanish, French or Portuguese edition. How do I do that?

Because these editions are being fulfilled  by their respective publishers, we have to ensure that these are only sold in certain countries. The only way we can ensure this is to keep those locked down and switch pledges manually upon request. Please send us a message if you need help with this.

Is that wooden kit bundle already included in the Jarl edition?

It is not.

Bonus Promo

Currently, Corax Games is running a campaign for the German edition of Reavers of Midgard. That campaign will feature a promo cooked up just for that campaign.

We will be including that promo in everyone else's edition of Reavers of Midgard as well, so don't feel like you're losing out!

That's all for now! Enjoy your weekend everybody!

Pledge Manager Now Available
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 06, 2018 at 09:48:27 PM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers!

BackerKit surveys are now going out, so please keep a close eye on your inbox for the pledge manager for Reavers of Midgard.

For those new to pledge managers, this is where you'll provide us with your delivery address and select any add-ons you'd like to have, including some of our past releases. It's also the place where $1 backers can upgrade their pledge.

How to Upgrade Your Pledge

When you're opening your survey as a donation level backer, you'll see an option on the screen that appears below the "Get Started" button to upgrade your pledge level.

From there, you'll be able to upgrade to a full pledge.

For those concerned about finances, any additional funds added in pledge manager are not charged until we lock down the pledge manager, which we don't anticipate being before February and likely March.

Important Pledge Manager FAQ

A few points on using BackerKit that we've seen cause confusion in the past.

1) Why should I fill this out right now?

Filling out the pledge manager allows us to know where to send your game. We do not have your address at all without it being confirmed in BackerKit. This can cause all kinds of hiccups with backers getting their orders. If you're an international backer, not filling out your survey by the deadline could result in increased shipping or customs fees or the outright cancellation of your order.

Don't be that person who wonders where their games is when everyone else has it because you didn't fill out the pledge manager.

2) When is the deadline to fill out the survey?

We haven't set one just yet as we try and time this with production timelines a little more closely. It will not be any sooner than February 2019 and we will give you some amount of notice ahead of this actually happening.

3) When will my add-on games ship?

They will ship when your actual pledge ships, with your actual pledge.

4) I backed the Portuguese/French/Spanish edition of Reavers of Midgard. Why can't I add on Champions of Midgard?

Fulfillment on these titles will, for the most part, be handled by those local publishers themselves. As mentioned during the campaign, the only add-on for these titles is the Reavers of Midgard playmat (which will only be sold in English at this time).

5) Why does some of the international shipping on add-on games like City of Gears or Deception: Murder in Hong Kong appear to be insane?

There are other games on this campaign that are US only because they will be shipping directly from our warehouse here in St. Louis. In addition, many of these titles are ones we aren't allowed to sell internationally as we have licensed them ourselves. Unfortunately, it is very difficult in BackerKit to not display these games at all to international backers.

6) I checked my email really well and didn't see the email from BackerKit. What do I do?

If by Saturday, you haven't been able to find your BackerKit email for the pledge manager, please send us a message here on Kickstarter so we can shoot you your link directly.

That's all for now. We're happy to answer any questions as they come up.

All the best,

PAX Unplugged Recap - Pledge Manager Approaching
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 05, 2018 at 10:30:56 PM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers,

A quick update for you ahead of some pretty important stuff in the next couple of days.

PAX Unplugged Recap

Dagrun brought to life!
Dagrun brought to life!

We had an awesome time at our booth at PAX Unplugged showing off a bunch of new games as well as the prototype for Reavers of Midgard. We met several of you fine folks in person, including Dagrun herself as you can see from the picture above!

The big moment of the con for this game was getting to show Sam Healey from the Dice Tower Reavers of Midgard. He had recently named Champions of Midgard his #5 game of all time, so this game had some big shoes to fill.

It was a late night play on Saturday night, but it seemed to go well.

Based on that exchange, we're optimistic to be sure :-)

Pledge Manager Approaching

We have submitted the pledge manager to BackerKit for review, and should be able to start sending out surveys by the end of the week if all goes well.

A few important points to make.

1) There are a number of non-Champions of Midgard add-on games on the campaign that are explicitly US ONLY. This isn't done as a result of not loving our international backers but because these orders will ultimately fulfill out of our warehouse here in St. Louis and, for at least some of the games, our rights are region-specific.

2) All add-ons will ship at the same time as your pledge.

3) While the pledge manager will be open for some time, we strongly recommend you fill this out as soon as you receive it. The vast majority of you will end up doing this but every campaign we have people who ignore this advice and every campaign we have people wondering where their game is when they haven't even told us their address. Not filling these out as an international backer can be especially dicey as we may be unable to fulfill your game at all if deadlines are missed.

Thanks,

Alex - Grey Fox Games

Survey Results! - New Art - PAX Unplugged
over 5 years ago – Thu, Nov 29, 2018 at 12:33:56 AM

Hey there Reavers of Midgard backers!

We're coming to you this week from Philadelphia where PAX Unplugged is set to get underway in a couple of days (more on that in a bit). In between munching on cheesesteaks, we had a couple of items to update you on.

$1 Survey Results

To say our last campaign update seeking information on $1 backers and the best path forward got some attention would be an understatement.

It spurred some discussion on Facebook groups (much of it unfortunately out of context), was mentioned in a recent blog post by Jamey Stegmaier from Stonemaier Games and, of course, right here in the comments section.

We just closed the survey after receiving 742 responses. This provided us with some great data and feedback that will inform our thinking on future projects, which we'll share with you below.

Before that though, we want to make one thing that was in the last update, but overlooked by many, crystal clear:

We value all backers of our campaigns, whether it be for a $1 Donation or for a full pledge for the game. Any pledge we get on a project helps us do what we love to do.... make high quality tabletop games. We're incredibly grateful for all of the support we receive, no matter the quantity. Thank you for helping make this game a reality!

Ok, now to the results...

To say this data doesn't provide us with a clear answer is a bit of an understatement. On the surface level, a plurality (but not majority) of backers are fine with things as they are, with the next highest number going to requiring a higher pledge amount to get access to the pledge manager.

What's especially interesting is about 15 percent of respondents didn't pick any of the options provided and instead opted to write in their own options.

There is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a divide in the data when you compare results from those who were Donation Level backers and those who pledged at Ultimate Conqueror or Retailer.

Of the survey respondents who identified as pledging at the $1 Donation Level, a full 60% of them were in favor of keeping things the same. For Ultimate Conqueror and Retailer respondents, that number was just 31%.

The individual comments are things we're still looking through and processing. We'll be using every piece of feedback to determine how we'll handle these pledge levels in the future.

To be clear yet again.... we are NOT changing anything on this campaign. $1 level backers are still getting access to the pledge manager when we release it next week.

New Art

While much of the gorgeous art from Yaroslav Radeckyi is already in place, there is still some being created for this game... including for stretch goals that were unlocked in the final days and hours of the campaign.

It's way too early for April Fools Loki...
It's way too early for April Fools Loki...

This is the Grey Fox exclusive Sea Journey card Loki's Deception that you unlocked. It can have some particularly.... interesting effects on the high seas as rerolling all of your crew dice could put you in a very compromised position for the upcoming Sea Battle.

I'll prophe-seeya later!
I'll prophe-seeya later!

These are for the prophecy cards. They'll come in different colors and configurations and score endgame points for you in a variety of ways.

Oooooh, sweet loot
Oooooh, sweet loot

This is a set of spoils you can work on gathering in the Keeps deck.... specifically valuable art!

A hammer of justice to be sure
A hammer of justice to be sure

This is a still yet to be named artifact card. Anyone have any ideas for what we should call it? Let us know in the comments below.

PAX Unplugged

As mentioned at the top of this update, we're at PAX all this weekend. You can find us at Booth #1913. We'll have the demo copy of Reavers that we were using at the booth, but not actually out for the demo, so if you'd like to take an early peek, just come by and ask for Alex (that's me). If I'm there, I can give you the quick rundown.

We'll also have something for sale that a lot of Champions of Midgard fans should have interest in....

That's it for now! We'll chat again next week when the BackerKit pledge manager is about to be sent out.

All the best,
